On 1 October 2011, the Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) were introduced to give temporary agency workers the same access to basic pay and working conditions as if they would have been recruited directly by the employers from day one. If you employ an agency worker on assignment in the UK, you need to know the rules when it comes to the changes. Under the new Regulations in many cases, agency workers will after 12 weeks in an assignment be entitled to the same basic working and employment conditions that they would have been entitled to had they been recruited directly by your organisation to do the same job.
